The winner of a new $30,000 landscaped garden says the decision to buy in Te Whāriki, Lincoln is proving very lucky.
“I have never won anything before this. This is like a gift from the sky,” competition winner Ke Deng says.
Te Whāriki is a premium residential community being developed by Ngāi Tahu Property in partnership with Lincoln University.
Everyone who purchased a section and settled between 5 August and 5 December 2019 received a voucher from landscape architects DCM Urban for a personal garden design. They also went into a draw for their garden to be constructed by sustainable landscape specialists Evergreen Landcare.
Ke bought his winning block in Te Whāriki after his daughter suggested moving out of crowded Tāmaki Makaurau-Auckland to a more relaxing lifestyle in Ōtautahi-Christchurch. He saw Te Whāriki on a trip south and decided it was perfect.
“I drove by Lincoln and saw some subdivisions and thought ‘this is the place’.”
He has decided on an architecturally designed home to complement his landscaped garden.
“I will have a beautiful house to match.”
Now he is keen to get the project completed and have his Canadian-based daughter, who gave him such great advice, come to visit.
Te Whāriki sales manager Dene Maddren says he is thrilled that the garden was won by someone who is so enthusiastic about moving in.
“Ke was so excited when I called to tell him he had won the garden of his dreams. He is already looking forward to moving in and making the most of the great lifestyle on offer at Te Whāriki.”
He also congratulates all the other buyers who have received landscape design vouchers for free consultations with DCM Urban in the past four months.
“This prize is really the cherry on top of the landscape design giveaway promotion. We are really looking forward to seeing some stand-out gardens around Te Whāriki in the future.”
